Living in beautiful Yorkshire I have coast, moorland, peak and
dale at my fingertips, it is therefore a real pleasure to paint
directly from llife. I also find it tremendously exciting:

I can see the changing colours and shapes first hand; the weather
has a direct impact on my work as the time taken to complete my painting is directly influenced by the wind, rain or sun. Working outside adds the element of surprise - I'm not totally in control -
but I do hope to  capture some of the exhileration and freedom
that I feel when I am painting, surrounded by the sites and sounds
of the quiet things, the open spaces that are as essential to me as the air that I breathe.

When you look at my paintings I hope you see something beautiful and distinctive; a memory, a feeling or a desire to see for yourself.
